The Most Iconic Moments from the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This year’s Paris Olympic Games are undoubtedly the MOST ICONIC and most memorable Olympic Games that we will ever witness in our lifetime.

Already a world renown city that attracts millions each year, Paris offers an awe-inspiring backdrop, against which the thrilling images of the greatest of sporting achievements and DIVINE HUMAN FEATS are juxtaposed against the imagery of history, design and romance.

Paris is one of the most popular cities in which to produce film and campaigns – people like to see Paris. The allure of the GLIMPSES OF THE CITY between competitions is enticing to viewers. Those who have visited in their lifetime, experience instant nostalgia from a quick frame of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe or Louvre. Those who have not been, indulge in this gratuitous travel-from-your-living-room experience as they view the infamous landmarks spread throughout the city. All of a sudden, portions of the population who were not previously particularly motivated to watch the Olympics, are now tuning in initially for those precious glimpses of the city and then, oh yes, because the greatest athletes on earth are performing to their greatest potential. Talk about synergy.

That is all thanks to the Olympic Organising Committee’s creative and wise choices. As opposed to building stadiums on the outer city edges of Paris, which would leave ‘white elephant’ desolate spaces in the Olympic’s wake, they chose to USE THE CITY and build into its infrastructure, the literal stages for competition. These stages of performance are intrinsically woven into this recognisable, nostalgic for some, aspirational for others, web of images that are telecast right into living rooms around the globe. From fencing inside the Grand Palais, to skateboard heights with both Concorde and Eiffel Tower playing backdrop. Ticket-holders travelled to La Defense to witness the swim events whilst equestrian riders rode on the very grounds that kings and queens once rode at Versaille. A beach set in a grand city as beach volleyball played at the base of Trocadero and let’s not forget the opening ceremony that may never be beat, the first ever to be held NOT-in-a-stadium, but instead conducted through the heart-string of the city. It does not get better than that.

Oh but it did. How can we talk about the Paris Olympics without pointing to CELINE DION’S spectacular performance that was truly a once in a lifetime vision in itself. A true blessing over the games from the performer adored by the nation, who herself is the greatest in her field and who has had to overcome extreme adversity following her diagnosis and battle with stiff man syndrome as learned by the world in her documentary released only months prior, I Am: Celine Dion. Not only did she perform, but she was set atop of the Eiffel Tower itself, emblazened as an impressive show of light streamed out over the city and onto the masses watching on. This was a moment. A moment of emotion, raw human-ness, awe, empathy, pride and love as the globe watched together in unison and felt something, something magical.

What a precursor to the games themselves. Games where the world witnesses those who have trained for four years or more, invested blood, sweat and tears in training to be the greatest in the world. Yes the Olympic Games always brought us this, but PARIS ENTICED THE PREVIOUS NON-SUBSCRIBERS who now also witnessed the impressiveness and raw human emotion that the games shares with the world. Some would say, the Paris Olympics has single-handedly turned non-sports lovers into appreciators at the very least.

Icons throughout icons, creating iconic history. That was Paris 2024.
